Energy-Efficient Installation & Weatherproofing
We integrate multi-point locking systems, adjustable thresholds, and compression weatherstripping that eliminate the air infiltration that drives up HVAC bills in Maryland's cold winters and humid summers. Flashing and sill pans prevent water intrusion at the door frame — the same technique we use on windows. Every door installation is backed by our workmanship warranty and 4.9★ rated by Maryland homeowners across 48 Google reviews.

Frequently Asked Questions — Door Installation in Maryland
What types of doors do you install?
We install steel, fiberglass, and wood entry doors; storm doors; and sliding, hinged, and French patio doors. Most of our installations are pre-hung units — frame, sill, weatherstripping, and threshold all included. We do not install garage doors.
How long does door installation take?
A single entry door replacement typically takes 2–4 hours. A patio door replacement takes 4–6 hours. If the existing frame is rotted and needs rebuilding, add another 2–4 hours. We provide a realistic install time in your free written estimate.
Can you replace a door and its frame?
Yes — full-frame door replacement is our standard approach. We remove the old door, frame, and threshold, inspect and repair any rot or moisture damage in the rough opening, and install a new pre-hung unit with properly flashed exterior trim. This is the correct way to install an exterior door for long-term weather resistance in Maryland's humid climate.
What is a storm door and do I need one?
A storm door is a secondary door installed outside your main entry door. It adds an air space that improves energy efficiency, protects the entry door from direct weather exposure, and allows ventilation via a screened panel in warmer months. For homes with older or uninsulated entry doors, a storm door can meaningfully reduce drafts and energy costs.
Do you install energy-efficient doors?
Yes. Our standard fiberglass and insulated steel entry doors have R-values of 5–11, which significantly outperforms older wood doors. Many of our door options qualify for the federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (up to 30% of the install cost, capped at $500 per exterior door). We note energy-eligible options in your written estimate.
Are you licensed to install doors in Maryland?
Yes. Home improvement contractor work including door installation in Maryland requires an MHIC license. Apper Construction holds MHIC #05-146983, valid for entry door, patio door, and storm door installation across Anne Arundel, Howard, and Baltimore County. We are fully bonded and insured.
